I was humbled by the incredible introduction of me and The Stone Frigate made by Leesa Dean, dear friend and author of ‘Waiting for the Cyclone’, as the kick off to our evening festivities!
Thank you to all my guests, friends, and family who came out to celebrate my big evening with me. It was amazing to look out and see all your supportive faces in the crowd during the serious moments of the evening.
My speaking points on ‘The How and The Why of it” related to the writing of my book and to my motivations for telling my story generated lots of laughs and some tears as well.
A short reading from The Stone Frigate concluded the formal presentation portion of the evening.
The question period was full of laughs and some very insightful questions on my greatest fears in writing about real life events and the challenges I faced throughout the process as an emerging writer — with very limited understanding of what was really going to be required of me to create a memoir from first moments of knowing it was time to write it through the culmination with my book launch event.
Thank you to Marty and Kathy for taking care of my book table — and enjoying some of the cake!
A special order Tuxedo cake was served up during the ‘social’ afterwards.
Book signing for friends and family on my big night was an absolute delight.
Special thanks to my favourite movie maker and photo taker friend, Dave Heagy!! I am so grateful for your generosity of spirit and willingness to give so freely of your time and energy…just because you enjoy it!
